While so many pattern names can be attached to this Mill Wheel variation, I can't help but just call it a Beach Ball quilt. The bold curved piecing and rhythmic blue-and-white movement feel playful and graphic all at once - like rows of vintage striped beach balls. Likely dating to the mid 1960s, this quilt has a distinctly mid-century modern feel, blending traditional curved piecing with the bold optical designs popular during the era. The soft puckering and beautifully worn texture give it that cozy, loved character we always hope to find in an older quilt.
Flaws include light discoloration in the center area, likely where the quilt was folded, and one small white spot.
